The Old Smiddy

The old smiddy or 'smithy' dates back to the 19th century with Alexander McFarlane listed as the owner in 1888. His descendants continued as blacksmiths for many years. The building is most fondly remembered when oppcupied by the Kennedy family. Mrs Kennedy was renound for her hospitality, housekeeping and homebaking. The smiddy operated until the late 1960s and after laterly being sold on the building and adjoining house fell into general dis-repair.

As visitors to the village for over 10 years Michael and Lynn Crow saw the great potential the building and its location offered and set about buying and reastoring it to its former glory. Throughout his career Michael has worked in all aspects of catering and hospitalitiy and having gathered a wealth of professional experinces from around the world his dream has always been to offer a personal dining experinece that will have customers returning again and again.

'Having created dining experinces for a wide variety of customers frequently including V.I.P s and Royals I have come to believe that locally sourced, high quality foods simply and unpretensusly prepared and presented works best.'

The family have always valued a truly natural hospitable enviroment and aim to provide just such for their guests.
