Wester Lix Cottages, Killin, Scotland
Wester Lix was once a farm sitting in an area of open hillside. Over the years the buildings have been modified, refurbished and extended to provide extremely comfortable accommodation for couples, families and small groups.
We are situated just over 3 miles from the village of Killin, right in the center of the Dochart Forest. From the grounds one can access many local walks, some along former railway tracks one of which will take you into Killin itself, and others to local waterfalls or out onto open hillside. The local area forms part of The Loch Lommond and Trossachs National Park and is therefore protected from development.
At Wester Lix there is a strong affinity with animals, from the family pets, chickens and sheep, the bats nesting in the lofts, to the local wildlife such as the deer that live in the adjoining forest. We therefore welcome pets by arrangement but will insist on them being Vaccinated to protect our own and those of other guests.
Our aim is simple, to provide a true home from home, affordable quality accommodation in a peaceful and secluded setting to those seeking to appreciate this area of the Scottish Highlands. To achieve this we have decorated and equipped the cottages to a level that we would expect when looking for a relaxing break ourselves. The result is a compliment of comfort and usability suitable as a base to enjoy the great outdoors. We pride ourselves in welcoming many repeat visits from guests which for us is a testimony that we are doing something right.
The present owners Gill and Dave, purchased the old farm buildings and approx 9 acres of the surrounding land in summer of 1999. In the summer of 2006 2 of the properties were sold to Heather and Peter Nissen leaving Jonnas Cottage and the Farmhouse for holiday rental.
New for 2007 we are offering residential and non residential training corses in Photograhy for individuals and grouops at various levels and interests.
